THE WILLIAM E. SCHMIDT VOCAL INSTITUTE

The Schmidt Vocal Institute is open to high school students who are rising sophomores, juniors, seniors, and entering college freshmen.

 

The William E. Schmidt Vocal Institute (SVI) nurtures and mentors the development of talented, young singers who wish to pursue studies in music performance and/or education. The curriculum focuses on training singers to have a healthy technique, improved musicianship, and outstanding performance skills.

 

Participants of SVI will receive:

 

  • PRIVATE LESSONS AND COACHINGS
  • MASTER CLASSES WITH DISTINGUISHED GUEST ARTISTS
  • RECITAL AND SCENES PERFORMANCES
  • STAGE PERFORMANCE/ACTING WORKSHOPS
  • COURSES IN LYRIC DICTION, VOCAL HEALTH, AND HISTORICAL PERFORMANCES
  • ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE AND YOGA
  • "HOW TO PREPARE FOR COLLEGE AUDITIONS" WORKSHOP
  • ACCESS TO LIVE PERFORMANCES OF PROFESSIONAL OPERA

  • TICKETS TO CINCINNATI OPERA PRODUCTION
  • MASTER CLASS WITH CINCINNATI OPERA PRINCIPAL ARTIST
  • PERFORMANCE AND Q&A WITH CINCINNATI OPERA YOUNG ARTISTS

Applicants are also encouraged to apply for the Schmidt Youth Vocal Competition that occurs in fifteen states throughout the United States.  Over $150,000 in prizes & scholarships awarded annually!

    Singers may apply via video, by appointment in Cincinnati or Oxford, OH, or by participation in a Schmidt Youth Vocal Competition before March 11, 2018

  • + STEP TWO: MAIL APPLICATION FEE

    Mail $35 application fee (Made payable to Miami University)

THE WILLIAM E. SCHMIDT FOUNDATION

As part of its mission the William E. Schmidt Foundation provides support and encouragement to youth in the arts.  Annually the Foundation provides scholarships and support to over one hundred and fifty students in the arts.
