STEP ONE:            Submit Application via YAPTracker

STEP TWO:           Submit Teacher Recommendation

Singers may apply via video, by appointment in Cincinnati or Oxford, OH, or by

participation in a Schmidt Vocal Competition before March 10, 2019.  If via the Schmidt Vocal Competition, singers must also fill out an application for the competition at

Have your private teacher or choral director email Linda McAlister within 10 days of your submission.

When applying via YAPTracker:

  • You'll be asked to create a free YAPTracker account. Make sure that username in that system is the applicant's name (singer), not the parent's name
  • Every applicant/singer will need a separate account in order to apply.

Special note to families and teachers:

  • If you would like to register multiple singers for the event, you should apply in succession, logging out of the one account before logging back in to the other. Again, use the singer's name to register for the YAPTracker account.
  • You should not open two browser tabs or windows at the same time.
  • If you are registering multiple singers, you can check on the status of your application by emailing

A small committee determined eligibility for need-based aid through a review of the income documentation provided by the applicant. Aid amounts vary depending on the family’s income level and circumstances.  Available funding is limited and need-based financial aid will cover only a portion of the tuition cost.

Applicants are encouraged to research grants and loan programs offered by their local governments, foundations, and businesses as well as artistic and educational organizations to help supplement the assistance offered by SVI.
